Best vs Good

so that you may be able to discern what is best...

- Philippians 1:10 (NIV)

The greatest enemy of "best" is not "bad", but "good". It is a much simpler matter in deciding between doing good and evil, but the test of one's Christian maturity is often found in being able to choose to do what is best as compared to what is simply good. In everything that has been given to us, whether it be time, allowance, spiritual gifts, etc..., let us not just use them in a merely good and acceptable way, but rather use them to the best that we can.

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.

- Ephesians 5:16-18 (NIV)
